18 before 2018 – Update 2

Hey Everyone,

It’s been a long while since I updated my progress on my Project Pan. Sadly, I do not have much to report, and that is simply because I have not been wearing makeup, let alone the ones I was targeting.

Recently I have been feeling very flat and that is why I do not have any progress photos. I have made progress on some products though! Through work I have still been working on my lip balm collection and recently finished another Maybelline Baby lips. I have also been working on some of my nude lipsticks as I apply them when I leave for work in the morning.

I honestly feel that at the end of this year, some of these products I am just going to remove from my collection, I don’t use them or need them so why should I have them?

Hopefully as my mental health improves so does my enthusiasm in doing full-face of makeup! I do miss playing with makeup so I think that is a start, which I’m thankful for.

How have you been progressing with your project pans?

Shisedo x Sailor Moon

Hey Everyone,

Before leaving for Japan, I had heard about this collaboration and so made sure to keep an eye out for it. I also just wanted to pick up more Sailor Moon themed makeup in general.

Luckily enough, I found the collection, and even better I got to purchase it duty free! Because I got it duty free though, I have only recently been able to open these up and touch everything.

18254673_10212789182263588_942206995_n

First up in the Skin Sensor, now, I will be honest, I’m pretty sure that this is a primer of some kind, I can’t read foundation anywhere on the packaging, and even then the product is very thin and doesn’t provide any coverage. I will be interested to try this out because it felt amazing on the back of my hand. There is a scent but it is subtle and not offensive at all.

18280618_10212789182303589_2095392816_n

Ah, my favourite piece of the collaboration, I mean look at that beautiful packaging! I cannot begin to describe how thankful I am that I found this collection and picked it up! Inside is a powder that I think will be a little too dark for me (there were only two shades to pick from) but that is ok. Once summer comes around I should be able to use it. You can’t see it in this photo, and I tried photographing it but, on the mirrored section there is pink writing that reminds owners that this indeed a part of the Sailor Moon collection and I am glad they included that. The compact is sturdy and the mirror in the lid is amazing, I am torn between wanting to take it with me everything and leaving it at home so it never gets damaged.

If you get the chance to get this collection and you are a huge Sailor Moon Fan I say do it! I have no regrets and I am so thankful that I was there and had the chance to bring these products home with me.

I will keep you updated when I finally get the chance to try the primer!

Let’s get social!

Me and My Make-up!

Hey Everyone,

Today’s post is going to be about how I am slowly changing and realising how I want to do my makeup. I am getting to a stage in my life where I just want to do my makeup in a style that I truly want to be in.

IMG_0907

This is  the first selfie that is in my media file attached to my blog. I can already see things that I do different which is exciting. I used to wear really light eyeshadows, all shimmer, no contour and bold lipsticks. I liked how I looked and I could tell I was learning! I was doing my brows but not really knowing what I was doing (to be honest I still don’t). I was in Japan when I really started to blog which was exciting!

c82cf-img_0974

Gosh this is a throwback, over a year ago I did this look and loved it! I must have just received Jeffree Star Cosmetics Weirdo and wanted to play around with dark makeup. I’m also pretty sure I was having a shitty day so that probably encouraged this look as well. This look was the first time I had played with such dark makeup, but I do think this is where it all began. I scared the crap out of my unit mates and my boyfriend showered me in compliments, I also got such positive feedback from this look, which I was thankful for.

IMG_0055

Brows = check, Bold lips = check, learning how to blend eyeshadow = kinda check? I am still learning how I want my eyeshadow to look, but I am mostly trying to learn how to blend shadows together, still, I am using reasonably light shadows and colours. I don’t know what drew me to them, but I was using neutrals all the time and always wearing bold lips. I think I didn’t want to wear bold on bold.

IMG_1775

To more recent times, I ADORE this makeup look. Blond lips, bold eyes and a wing liner I will probably never be able to recreate. This was the first time I have ever really gone ‘stuff it, I will wear what I want’, I LOVE grunge, not super grunge, but that style in general. So I tried to do what I felt comfortable with, even though I did this look at home and didn’t go out that day, I don’t regret creating it. I need to re-create it and wear it out and about. If you want to see what products I used, I wrote a whole post about it here.

13595385_10209777229046640_1735504603_n

Not the best quality photo, sorry about that, but this is sort of what my daily style has become and I really enjoy it. I love wearing dark shadows and bold lips. I honestly just like bold colours haha! I clearly still haven’t mastered brows but that is ok, I don’t want perfect brows. I know how I like my contour, blush and highlight which is something. I have noticed a bigger change in my style since I died the underside of my hair purple, which I am happy with.

Remember overall, makeup is personal and it is ok to change! I am so happy with how my makeup looks and there is every chance that in 6 months time my style will change again!

The important point that I want to make out of this post is the freedom to change your look and style whenever you want. Everyone is constantly changing how they do their makeup and that is ok! Just remember that at the time you thought you were smashing it!

Bloggers United AU x LUSH 1st Birthday Bash!

Hey Everyone!

Recently I was lucky enough to be invited to Bloggers United AU 1st Birthday held at LUSH Marion! I was so surprised and thankful when the email arrived in my mail box asking if I would like to come! I jumped on the chance and it was so much fun!

Photos in this post were taken by the amazing Chill Hill Photography. It was amazing to have a professional photographer there for the night!

lush-marion-igram-9

This photo gives you and idea of how small of an event the night was. I feel so honoured to be apart of the night celebrating with my fellow bloggers! It was good to see people who I had met at the first Adelaide Event and catch up!

lush-marion-igram-3.jpg

For most of the night I was with these two beautiful ladies ❤ You have heard me talk about Caitlan from Procrasticaitlan all the time, the beautiful lady on the left is Ren from Ren Nay who is a YouTuber rather than a blogger! Her style is amazing and she is hilarious! I am so glad that I got this photo because it was at the start of the night when we were all still full of energy! This was also my first time taking a photo with Bloggers United AU’s Instagram cut out!

I am so thankful that I got to meet other bloggers! Sorry if you came up to me and I looked like a stunned mullet… I didn’t recognise you! I had Caitlan tell me who people were later and I felt awful!

lush-marion-igram-45.jpg

The night started off with these beautiful people explaining to us why certain ingredients are used in LUSH products. It was amazing to hear what was used and why! I was super surprised to hear that even potatoes make it into LUSH products! (I swear I’m constantly surrounded by potatoes).

lush-marion-igram-1.jpg

I loved hearing about how LUSH obtains their ingredients and how LUSH makes a huge effort to not affect the land that they use. It was interesting to hear that all the honey used in Australian LUSH products are harvested in Australia! So if you are travelling internationally and wonder why the product isn’t working the exact same as it does at home. It’s because, even though the ingredients are the same, they are unique to each country~! Their best example was with honey, which obviously would have different qualities depending on what pollen was used.

lush-marion-igram-21.jpg

The highlight of the night was the scavenger hunt! We were teamed up and set out to find products with certain ingredients in them! I thought this was an amazing idea, because it meant that we could use the knowledge we had just learnt to look for products! Everyone worked together in their teams to find everything that we needed! Sadly my group were one off from completing the challenge. But two teams went into a tie-break with one eventually becoming the winner! The tie-break was to find a product with potato in it! (I still don’t know which product that is)

lush-marion-igram-30.jpg

These are the two lovely ladies who won the scavenger hunt! Felicia from The Beauty and the Geek AU and Steph from How To Girl. Net. It was great to see such deserving people win! I loved seeing them sussing out their prize later on and sharing between the two of them! I cannot deny I was a little jealous when they posted their winnings on Instagram! Excellent work girls!

Once the scavenger hunt was completed, it was time for:

lush-marion-igram-5

More selfies and of course, when Caitlan and I are together

lush-marion-igram-24

Laughing (and being outraged?) at things that I don’t even remember!

Everyone was lucky enough to spend time shopping and discussing what would be best for our different needs. We were lucky enough to receive 1 full item to review and then shop to our hearts content! In a later post I will show what I hauled. I am so happy with what I picked up and I’m excited to try new products!

Before I end this post I just want to say a huge thank you to these beautiful ladies:

lush-marion-igram-47.jpg

Thank you again Nici from Beauty and Food and Kate from Seduced By Beauty. These ladies are the reason so many exciting things are happening for Adelaide bloggers! These two amazing ladies have also created Promote SA, which is a site dedicated to exactly what the website is called! Promoting SA talent both brand and blogger wise. I cannot wait to see what these lovely ladies have planned for us in the future. All I know is that I am super excited to be apart of it all! Congrats again ladies on another successful night!

Thank you as well to LUSH ANZ for having us. This is my first ever LUSH event and I had a blast! Thank you so much for having us there and I can’t wait to see what happens in the future. I do know that I need to get my butt back to a LUSH store to try all the different skin care products they have.

What are your must have LUSH items? I would love to know below!

I would love to see more of you, so lets hang out on:

My Makeup Story Tag!

Hey Guys!

Recently my beautiful friend Sarah from Pastel Sparkles did this tag and I thought it would be fun to do as well. This tag has 10 questions which I will also list at the bottom so if you want to do this tag as well you can just copy and paste them!

1. When did you first start getting into make up?

I sort of have two answers for this, because I remember when I was a lot younger being obsessed with makeup. I distinctly remembering being IN LOVE with a grape lip balm. It died off though because my mum did labour work, so because she wasn’t wearing it, I didn’t wear it. My current obsession started in 2012 when I moved and had a work college who was also into makeup! My interest exploded, and here now I am.

2. What was the first make up you bought?

Going on from my current obsession I would say it was an Estee Lauder foundation, I don’t remember what it was called but I know it is discontinued, which saddens me because it was the best colour match I ever had.

3. What is the newest/oldest items in your collection?

Oldest: Maybe my Inglot eyeshadows? I don’t remember because honestly most of it is pretty new.

Newest: Rimmel London Lasting Finish Foundation, bought because I ran out of my beloved Kat Von D Lock-it foundation. So far I’m loving it though, so I can’t complain too much! (Thanks again Sarah for recommending this to me!)

4. Who is your celebrity make up idol?

Celebrity-celebrity, no one. I don’t really follow that world much because I don’t want to become a ‘crazy fan’, these are just my feelings towards that. YouTube-celebrity would be Nikki Tutorials, Jaclyn Hill and Glam and Gore, all for different reasons.

5. Who is your favourite YouTube guru?

It’s Keerstin and Tati, they are both down to earth and tell it to you like it is. These two are about the only opinions I truly trust (in regards to YouTubers)!

6. What is a look/trend that you wish you could pull off?

All the crazy lid space eye looks, my eye lids fold so I can’t replicate them. Also all the amazing dark eyeshadow makeup looks. I NEED TO PRACTICE THOSE!!!

7. Any make up disasters?

Not really? I had been fully invested in YouTube videos when I re-entered the beauty world. That being said though, bleeding lipstick/ lipgloss is always a disaster and there have been a couple of times where it has bleed really badly. I was so upset because there was nothing a could do and trying to fix it only made it worse 😦

8. What’s your favourite make up brand?

One brand in particular? I don’t know, I use a lot of different brands. One I do trust a lot though would be NARS, I know they can be expensive (I refuse to pay $67 dollars for the Sheer Glow Foundation), but they are worth it!

9. What is your favourite make up tip/trick that you wish you knew sooner?

Matte Shadows in the crease look a lot better then a shimmer everywhere. Even though I love shimmer, a matte crease makes the shadow pop!

10. Which 5 products could you not live without?

  1. Benefit Gimme Brow – Light/ Medium
  2. Jeffree Star Cosmetics – Liquid Lipsticks
  3. Urban Decay Primer Potion – Original
  4. Setting Spray – In general
  5. NARS Translucent Setting Powder – Loose or Pressed

And that is everything! This was really fun and quick to do. I am so glad Sarah found this tag and shared it. If you end up doing this tag please send me a link or tag me because I would love to read it!

As promised here are all the questions together:

Questions:

1. When did you first start getting into make up?

2. What was the first make up you bought?

3. What is the newest/oldest items in your collection?

4. Who is your celebrity make up idol?

5. Who is your favourite YouTube guru?

6. What is a look/trend that you wish you could pull off?

7. Any make up disasters?

8. What’s your favourite make up brand?

9. What is your favourite make up tip/trick that you wish you knew sooner?

10. Which 5 products could you not live without?

Don’t forget I would love to hear from you if you do this tag!

Femme Fatale Cosmetics Haul / Swatch Post! (First Shop)

Hey Guys!

Get ready for a looooong post because I have 15 eyeshadow pigments from Femme Fatale Cosmetics. This is an Australian Brand that is based in Brisbane and their products are amazing! (I also have more on the way because of their recent collection, so get ready for that post.)

My order came quickly and I am so happy and impressed with how it was packaged. Everything was tightly packed together and it all arrived to me undamaged and looking fabulous. I received 6 samples and I love every shade.

One problem I had is that some of the pigments are just so hard to photograph! They will have a duo chrome shift and I just could not capture it. If you aren’t comfortable with my swatch don’t hesitate to rely on Femme Fatale’s, as they are what I originally used when I placed my order. They have done a great job photographing these amazing shades.

You will notice two patches of swatches on my hands. The bottom swatch is built up to show what the colour looks like, the top swatch is sheerer to show what the pigment looks like with one swipe.

Another note while editing this for the who knows how many-th time, I ordered these pigments at the start of April and have been using them since then. Feature photos will  come from my second beauty Instagram account Niji_me_.

Either way, grab a drink, bring a snack and be prepared for many shadows!

IMG_1606

Candied Apple

First up this would have to be my favourite shade out of probably all the ones I have picked up. I couldn’t be in more love with it if I tried. As soon as I opened it and swatched it, I knew I had to get in on my face. I am so glad in this photo you can see the green shift in the shadow.

Under Lord

This is my second favourite shadow, because I mean look at how pretty this shade is! I find this shade does bruise but that doesn’t change how much I love this shadow. Again you can see in the top swatch the shift that is in this pigment! If you love dark shadows, this is one for you!

Efflorescence

This is a beautiful pink based pigment with a green/gold shift. I am sorry that I’m not the best at description! Sadly this photo does not do the shift of this shadow justice, but it does show how beautifully pink this shadow is. I prefer to use this as a topper sort of shadow because it is a lighter and sheerer colour.

Inscribe

I picked up this shade because I wanted to see what some of Femme Fatales more neutral shadows were like! That being said, this still have a beautiful shimmer to this that isn’t over-powering. Inscribe is a shade that will look amazing as both a sheer wash of colour and built up on the lid.

Nether Mancer

I had a thing for purples in this haul, and I have no regrets. This is a beautiful purple shadow with a blue shift. I think I have worn this before and it lasted amazingly well! I didn’t find any bruising which is always good! While it is beautiful it is a harder shade to build, so I prefer to layer this shadow!

Demon Soul

Ahh, a black shadow to go with my soul. I haven’t had the chance to use this yet, but I am super excited to! Again this shadow has a shift, but you cannot see if very clearly in this photo. Demon Soul has a green and purple shift, I LOVE how this looks and I am super excited to get the chance to use this.

Dream State

I feel that this photo doesn’t give this shadow justice, as I sit here writing this post with a swatch on my hand it just isn’t the same. Dream State is a bold shadow that looks amazing! The blue shimmer is strong in this shadow and its amazing, I haven’t had a chance to use this shadow but I am sure when I do I will just love it more.

Illusions

I LOVE this shadow, a deep brown with a teal shift. I think ‘ahhh’ when I look at this shade because I now how easy it is to use and how beautiful it is on the eye. This is another shadow that you can use as a sheer wash or build up for a solid colour. I can see myself using through this colour pretty well.

Dispersion

My photo of Dispersion doesn’t really give the shadow justice. The top swatch sort of gives you and idea of how the shift looks, but the shift is so much stronger in real life. My photo gives you a better look at the base colour of this shadow, which is still beautiful and should be kept in mind.

IMG_1996

Spectral Fragments

Another one of my favourites, hands down, I used this in one of my makeup looks. I haven’t used this much outside of that look so far but I know I will! This is another shade that bruises you can see that in the eye look photo above. The colour all over my lid is Spectral Fragments, even though this bruised I love this shade. My photo clearly shows the shift of this colour and I am soooo thankful because it is truly beautiful. The undertone that sort of comes through is better seen in my look post but it still looks amazing! As I said, it’s still one of my favourites.

Deep Moss

My top swatch shows how this colour shifts pretty well and the bottom swatch shows what it looks like when it bruises. I find that I love the colour of this shade but find that it does not preform as pigmented as some of the other shades. I still love this shade and I’m sure I  will get lots of use out of it, but I probably wont reach for it as often.

Night in Werewolf Woods

My only disappointment in the pigments I picked up is this one, as you can see it just didn’t swatch the best. Even swatching it on the back of my hand reminds me of that. This is a shadow that looks BEAUTIFUL in the pan but it just doesn’t work as well as the others. If you really want this shade I would say get it in a sample size first and see how you go from there.

Marauders

Another shade that builds beautifully and also works as a sheer wash. My swatch photo is what Marauders looks like built up. The shift in this is a lot lighter than the base colour which gives this colour an amazing contrast. I don’t know if this shade bruises though. I can see myself using this more as a topper shade than by itself, but either way I’m glad I have it.

Sugar Rush

First up I don’t know why my swatch is looking a lot more pink based here than in real life. In real life it leans more purple and its beautiful. The shift is teal and goes with the purple perfectly. Again this is another shade that works well as a topper but can also be built up so that the purple base can be seen better. I enjoy using this shade in my inner corner!

Carnival of Horrors

I am in love with this shade, but I think I am yet to put this on my face. The top swatch shows the shift that this colour has beautifully. The bottom swatch shows the base of the shade and I am so glad that I managed to get this shot. I feel like this would be a shadow that will bruise, but the base is a lovely neutral so that wont bother me! I will let you know what it’s like when I wear it.

And thats it! I am sure I will have another haul soon because I bought the whole Faraway Collection. If you want to have a look at the collection heres a link to it:

http://femmefatalecosmetics.com.au/product-tag/the-faraway-collection/

If there are any shades that you want to see swatches or a look including that shade, let me know and I will get on it when they arrive.

Which shades are your favourite or which ones would you recommend? Let me know below. 🙂

Green Shift Makeup Look!

Hey Guys!

I have been loving a darker look recently, and I am feel so inspired by winter! I am super happy with how my eyes turned out in this look, but not sure how I feel about my lips, I wanted to do something different but improvised.

IMG_1975

My idea behind this look was that I wanted green eyes with a red crease. The hardest part of this was actually trying to get the red crease, as I wanted it to be matte. I found that the shadows that I thought would work for me didn’t, they weren’t red enough, so I had to lightly layer over a red shimmer. It worked out in the end, but I ended up using a lot more shadows in the crease than I wanted.

IMG_2016

The main shadows of this look are Spectral Fragments by Femme Fatal Cosmetics and Lumi by Sugar Pill Cosmetics. I have a deep love for my Femme Fatal shades, because they are unique and so easy to work with. Lumi is a shadow that simply works with everything and I love it to death.

IMG_1996

A quick close up of the eyeshadow look! below is a list of all the products used:

IMG_1971

Lips:

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Unicorn Blood (swatch post)

Sugar Pill Lumi layer over top. (A different shade was also used, but looking back that shadow is not lip safe so I will not be listing it here.)

I found that while Spectral Fragments is a beautiful duo chrome colour, it does bruise on my eyes. So if you have an eye shape/ design (?) similar to mine please be aware of that! The green shift lasted really well on the part of my lid that did not fold away, the areas that did got bruised and so only had the dark undertone left.

I originally was going to pair JS Weirdo with this look, but I didn’t have it with me, so I thought I would try Unicorn Blood. This is my first experience trying to layer shadows like this over lipstick, I feel it turned out pretty well though!

What sort of looks would you like to see next? Please let me know below.
